Located in the heart of downtown Gastonia, the Esquire Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection®, blends the historic charm of the South with today's most sought-after amenities and services. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it opened as a bank in 1918, and later became known as The Lawyers Building. A six-year renovation transformed the Classic Revival-style building into Gastonia's preferred luxury hotel, an architectural gem featuring 35 guest rooms and an all-day restaurant aptly named Barrister's.
After sitting vacant for three decades, the 1917 building was lovingly preserved over a seven-year period. Highlights include original heart of pine floors, mail chutes and doors with original beaded glass.
