Have you ever wanted to try mountain biking? Join the coaches and riders of Gaston County Composite for a fun, beginner-friendly introduction to the sport. Open to students in 5th through 12th grade, these free "Give It a Go" sessions teach the fundamentals of mountain biking in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Whether you're brand new to riding trails or just want to build your skills, experienced coaches will help you gain confidence while having fun outdoors.
When: Every second Saturday from July through September, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Where: George Poston Park (meet near the soccer fields)
What to Bring: A mountain bike, helmet, water, and a snack.
Gaston County Composite is part of the North Carolina National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), an organization that uses mountain biking to help young people build confidence, leadership, resilience, and lifelong friendships. With a "challenge by choice" philosophy, NICA creates an inclusive team environment where everyone rides, learns, and grows together—there are no tryouts and no sidelines.
