Southern Arts Society presents an exhibition of works by Lucy Warlick on view April 15th through June 12, 2026. Most of the paintings exhibited at Southern Arts Society reference historic photos from the Library of Congress’ collections, with the exception of her newest series “Caught” which features fishermen, women and children she photographed at the Springmaid Pier in Myrtle Beach, SC. Warlick’s paintings continue to show her main goal: to entice the viewer to exercise their “empathy muscles” by putting themselves “into the shoes” of the subjects of her artwork, reflecting on their own lives while imagining what’s happening in the paintings. “I would like to offer my paintings to a diverse audience so that they can engage their imaginations, remember what preceded them, and empathize with the circumstances of others while awakening to our connectedness as part of a greater whole.” You can see more images on Southern Arts Society’s website and Facebook page.
