Shrimp Boat
In Gastonia NC
A true local treasure since 1962, Shrimp Boat at Broad remains one of the few surviving outposts of the original Shrimp Boat restaurant chain. Founded by a Navy veteran, Bill Long, this spot originally opened in a trailer-style seafood shack before settling into its brick location in 1998. While longtime seafood lovers still come for the crispy flounder, Calabash (green) shrimp, scallops, and deviled crab plates, many locals will tell you the fried chicken and chicken livers are the real standout.
Inside, you'll find a casual, cash-only dining room with hearty portions priced right. Menu classics include seafood combos, savory fried chicken dinners, and generous hush puppies served alongside fries and slaw. Whether grabbing a quick lunch of fish and shrimp or settling in for a family dinner, guests appreciate the down-home flavor and nostalgic atmosphere that keep this Gastonia gem buzzing.
