Spooky ways to make the most of Halloween in Gaston County

Hickory Grove Haunted Trail

Now through Halloween


What started out with a couple of friends and a crazy idea has turned into a Halloween tradition in Gaston County. Returning Halloween to the way it was meant to be-no Hollywood aliens or make believe monsters-no theme park attractions."The woods are eerie, dark and deep" come and see what Halloween is all about at the Hickory Grove Haunted Trail!



Halloween Fest With Movie

October 21st | Dallas Park


Meet at the Citizens Resource Center at Dallas Park for a spooky movie-watching event with family fun festival activities. Wear your costumes for a costume contest, seasonal games, activities, crafts, candy and the original Ghost Busters movie will be shown and popcorn will be provided.



Scary-Ville

October 21st | Cherryville


Please join us for a family friendly spooky night on Cherryville’s Main Street! This event has quite possibly become our most anticipated of the year. Complete with $500 prize costume contest, haunted house, hay rides, games, food vendors and musical entertainment by Deja Vu.




Trick or Trail

October 22th | Warlick Family YMCA


Lace up your sneakers and get creative on your outfit for a 5K and 1-mile Fun Run on the Sytz Trail at the Warlick Family YMCA. The post-race party continues after the race with awards! The 5K will race through the winding hills and flats of the trail system while the Family Fun Run will follow the River Loop which is relatively flat.




Treat Walk

October 25th | Lowell


Local businesses of Lowell are hosting Treat Walk where they will hand out candy during a guided walk around town led by adult volunteers. Have your children get into costume for this fun event in downtown Lowell.




Trunk or Treat

October 27th | Bessemer City


Meet in downtown Bessemer City for Trunk or Treat. This family friendly event will include trick-or-treating, games, music, food, and more. Free and open to the public. Do not forget to wear your costume. Local businesses, groups or organizations are welcome to set up and hand out candy and goodies to youth and families.




Great Pumpkin Parade

October 28th | Patriots Park


Bring your camera and young children to Kings Mountain for this Halloween parade through town. All your little ghosts, goblins and super heroes will enjoy inflatables and games.




Monsters March

October 28th | Cherryville


A Halloween parade for children Kindergarten and younger in Cherryville. Participants will be led down Main Street by the CHS marching band to city hall, followed by trick or treating with downtown merchants.




Stanley Creek Massacre

October 29th | Harper Park


Looking for a challenging course? Join us for the annual Stanley Creek Massacre 5k or 10k.

at Harper Park in Stanley.



Schiele-O-Ween

October 29th | Schiele Museum


Explore the museum exhibits and The Farm to learn the true nature of “haunting” creatures like wolves, bats, owls, and spiders while you collect some autumn treats. Enjoy a program about the science of pumpkins and the tradition of jack o’ lanterns, then try your hand at carving a pumpkin into a design of your own. Kids can even participate in our online costume contest before the event! Tag us on social media and add the hashtag #SchieleOWeen to enter to win a special prize at the event!



Halloween Party and Costume Contest

October 29th | CityCade


Spooky Season is here. Meet at CityCade for the annual Halloween Bash! Prizes for best costume and trick or treating for your little ghouls and goblins from 6pm-8pm.





BooFest

October 29th | Stowe Park


A hauntingly fun evening full of music, activities, art & craft vendors, food vendors, costume contests, games, carnival rides, a spooky photo booth, plenty of candy for trick-o-treaters, and more!




The Wonderful Adventure to Oz

October 28th - 29th | Kings Mountain


Journey down the Yellow Brick Road to Patriots Park in downtown Kings Mountain for The Wonderful Adventure to Oz! Meet live characters from the Land of Oz as you walk through an interactive journey down the Yellow Brick Road! Enjoy trick-or-treating, and catch a live concert by the Band of Oz at the Liberty Falls Amphitheater. There will also be a special outdoor screening of The Wizard of Oz in celebration of the 83rd Anniversary!




Halloween Bash

October 29th | Station


Get ready for Station's biggest Halloween bash yet! Live music, costume prizes, drink specials and more. Don't miss it!




Halloween Ball

October 29th | Jekyll & Hyde


It's almost our favorite time of year again! Show off your most wicked look at Jekyll and Hyde Taphouse's annual Halloween Ball. Custom Halloween cocktails, live music with DJ Liquidsky, and costume contest.






Howl-O-Ween

October 30th | Stowe Park


Join us for our annual Howl-O-Ween event, featuring a costumed pup parade around Stowe Park and ten different costume contest categories for you and your furry friends. The event will also serve as a pet food drive to benefit Gaston County Animal Care & Enforcement, so please bring food items to donate.





Sup or Treat

October 30th | Belmont


This is a paddle with a Spooktacular twist hosted by Anchored Soul & Catawba Paddle Company. We will stop off at several docks along the way for a tasty treat. But remember you must say SUP-or-Treat or you may receive an undesirable treat! To make the event even more thrilling wear a Halloween costume.
