Celebrate National Trails Day in Gaston County 2022

Celebrated on the first Saturday of June, National Trails Day is a great way to kick off the summer. The American Hiking Society’s annual National Trails Day is the country’s largest celebration of trails featuring a series of outdoor activities across the United States designed to promote and celebrate the importance of trails to our communities.

In our area Carolina Thread Trail will be celebrating in multiple locations with a variety of guided hikes, bike rides and paddles throughout the day. Check out all of their events. Registration is requested and is open now. LEARN MORE

Biking the Kings Mountain Gateway Trail

Join Carolina Thread Trail for a guided bike tour of the Kings Mountain Gateway Trail. This exciting trail will eventually connect the city of Kings Mountain to Kings Mountain State Park, Kings Mountain Military Battlefield, Crowders Mountain, and the Overmountain Victory trail!

9:30 – 11:30 am | Kings Mountain, NC.

Paddle on the Catawba River

Join Carolina Thread Trail for a morning guided kayak tour on the Catawba River. A staff guide will take you up the river to explore the natural surroundings and learn about the local ecosystem, while very likely seeing a ton of wildlife.

“Art on the Trail”

The Kings Mountain Gateway Trail will celebrate with “Art on the Trail.” Festivities will include a Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest for children, along with local artists demonstrating and selling art inspired by nature and the trail.
