Human Powered Movement
The Southeast’s newest Adventure Race is coming to Gaston County!
Updated: Mar 14, 2022

Human Powered Movement is thrilled to bring a brand-new Adventure Race to our backyard for participants of all skill levels on April 1 and 2. The South Fork Sampler will to showcase the natural beauty and recreational options of the region while raising money for the Catawba Riverkeeper.
Starting and finishing at The Boathouse in McAdenville (Catawba Riverkeeper’s Outfitter) this beginner friendly scavenger hunt style event will task individuals and teams to collect as many pre-determined checkpoints as possible in the shortest amount of time to be crowned the winner of the inaugural South Fork Sampler!

Since there is no set course, check points must be collected by running, paddling, and biking throughout the South Fork River corridor in whatever order participants choose. Some checkpoints are on land, some are on the water … it is up to the participants to strategize their own adventure.
Friday, April 1 will feature a Corporate Challenge while Saturday, April 2 will play host to 2 different general public options.
To learn more about the sport, Human Powered Movement hosted an “Intro to Adventure Racing Clinic” that can be viewed HERE.
Additional information about the event can be found HERE.
The South Fork Sampler is a true community event with handmade prizes (Chronicle Millworks), 100% recycle event shirts (Recover), custom bandannas featuring original artwork (DeNeer Davis) as well as a substantial raffle prize pack to anyone who Donates to the Catawba Riverkeeper with goodies from South Main Cycles, Muddy River Distillery, Gaston County Travel & Tourism, Town of Cramerton, District 8 Beer Company, and more.
