With the holidays here, you may think you have to travel all over to find memorable experiences with the family this season, but Ace found one county that has you covered, Christmas County...Gaston County NC.
In part 1 of this show Ace visits The Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia to see "Holiday Lights and Laser Nights" and to visit with the animals on The Farm, which is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Also in this episode Ace and his team hit the slopes at The Chutes at Crowders Springs to enjoy snowless sledding.
In part 2 Ace talks with Christy Gliddon, Head of HR of Pharr in McAdenville where she shares the story of how Christmas Town USA® got started followed by being recognized by Charles Kuralt on CBS Morning Show where it grew to international fame. Over half a million lights stretch more than a mile through town. In the last few years people have taken to enjoying these lights on foot taking time to visit local merchants for holiday shopping and dining.
Ace then visits Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden for Holiday Lights at the Garden where he speaks with Debra Ploski, Director of Visitor Experience. 30,000 people visit the garden at this time of year to enjoy over a million lights, the orchid conservatory, a model train, and the Dickens Village. Then grab a bite to eat at one of the food trucks and make s'mores over an open camp fire.
