Scarecrow Hollow
Located in Belmont, Daniel Stowe Conservancy has for a long time been one of our must-see attractions with spectacular gardens, sparkling fountains, a conservatory dedicated to the display of tropical plants and orchids, nature trails and more. This month will be a great time to visit. See it transition from summer to a fall flourish with their locally created art display "Scarecrow Hollow." These themed scarecrows are on display from September 27 - October 31, 2025.

Harvest Season at the Farm
October is harvest time at Lineberger’s Maple Springs Farm in Dallas, NC, and the pumpkin patch is in full swing! Wagon rides spin across the fields, more than 100 varieties of pumpkins and gourds are ready to pick, and the farm store is stocked with fall décor, homemade goodies, and all things seasonal. Kids can explore tire mountains, slides, swings, corn cribs, sandboxes, feed chicks—and generally enjoy the best of being outdoors. With admission always free and the store open through October 31, it’s the perfect place to soak up all the autumn magic before the season ends.

Take a Harvest Moon Paddle
Did you know the strong light of the harvest moon allowed early settlers to work late into the night to harvest their crops? This month you can enjoy the "Harvest Moon" by taking a paddle on the evening of October 6th. Anchored Soul Paddling is hosting and will be taking guests that have reserved a spot via their mobile shop, for a fun evening on the river to enjoy the moon.
