July is Parks & Recreation Month, making it the perfect time to discover new places to play, relax, and explore in Gaston County. Whether you're looking for a lakeside escape, a family picnic, an active afternoon, or a little friendly competition, you'll find a park that fits your perfect summer day.


Start with Pickleball, Fishing, and Family Fun at Dallas Park

For visitors who want variety in one stop, Dallas Park is hard to beat. The park features six pickleball courts, three fishing piers with ponds, five picnic shelters, and a splash pad that helps families cool off during the summer months. Whether you're casting a line, enjoying a picnic, or watching kids run through the water, it's an easy place to spend an entire afternoon outdoors.

Hit the Trails and Find Your Next Adventure

If your idea of a great day includes movement and exploration, George Poston Park is calling your name. The park features seven trails that wind through natural surroundings, along with a popular pump track for cyclists. Four soccer and baseball fields offer even more recreational opportunities, making it a favorite destination for active families and outdoor enthusiasts.

Cool Off Along the Water

Nothing says summer quite like a day by the lake. South Point Access offers 68 acres of lakeside recreation on Lake Wylie, complete with a swim beach, picnic pads, and beautiful waterfront views. Whether you're splashing in the water, relaxing in the shade, or enjoying lunch by the lake, it's an ideal spot to slow down and soak up summer.

Gather, Play, and Stay Active at Stinger Park

Located in Bessemer City, Stinger Park is a 40-acre recreational destination designed for all ages. The park features baseball and softball fields, multipurpose soccer and football fields, tennis and pickleball courts, playgrounds, workout equipment, and scenic walking trails. Whether you're playing a game, taking a walk, or enjoying time with family, Stinger Park makes it easy to spend the day outdoors.




Try Something New

Looking for a park that offers a little bit of everything? Tryon Park is a 33-acre gem in Bessemer City packed with recreation opportunities. Play a round of disc golf, take a stroll on the lighted walking and jogging track, or catch a game on one of the softball, Little League, soccer, or football fields. Covered shelters, picnic areas, and playground equipment make it easy to turn a quick visit into a full afternoon of fun.
