If it's been a few years since your last visit to Daniel Stowe Conservancy, you'll find there's more to discover than ever before. While The Gardens at Stowe remain the centerpiece, the Conservancy has grown into a full-day destination where you can explore beautiful gardens, hike scenic trails, let the kids climb and play, enjoy seasonal exhibits, grab lunch or coffee, and experience live music and special events throughout the summer. Whether you're planning a family outing, a date day, or simply looking for a relaxing escape outdoors, here's what makes Daniel Stowe Conservancy worth rediscovering this summer.

The Gardens at Daniel Stowe Conservancy

The Gardens

The Gardens at Stowe are especially vibrant during the summer months. Wander through the Four Seasons Garden, Canal Garden, White Garden and Cottage Garden, where colorful seasonal blooms, fountains and thoughtfully designed landscapes create a peaceful place to explore. From quiet garden paths to stunning floral displays, it's easy to slow down and enjoy nature at its peak.

The Prairie Castle at Daniel Stowe Conservancy

The Prairie Castle Playground

One of the Conservancy's newest additions has become a favorite for families. The Prairie Castle Playground is a three-story, nature-inspired castle designed to encourage climbing, creativity and imaginative play. It's a destination all its own and gives kids plenty of room to burn off energy while parents relax nearby.

The Adventure Trail at Daniel Stowe Conservancy

Adventure Trail

The fully shaded, half-mile Adventure Trail connects visitors with nature through five interactive outdoor rooms designed for exploration and discovery. The trail leads directly to the Prairie Castle Playground, making it an easy family adventure that's comfortable even on warm summer days.

Summer Butterfly Bungalow at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

Butterfly Bungalow

One of summer's most anticipated experiences is the Butterfly Bungalow, open through Labor Day. Step inside this immersive exhibit to watch butterflies emerge from chrysalides, spot hungry caterpillars, discover pollinator plants and see hundreds of butterflies fluttering around you. It's an unforgettable experience for visitors of every age and one you can only enjoy during the summer season.

The Trailhead Store at Daniel Stowe Conservancy

Trails, Shopping and Dining

Beyond the gardens, Daniel Stowe Conservancy offers more than eight miles of trails for walking, hiking and exploring the property's conserved natural areas. Stop by the Trailhead Store for coffee, sandwiches, local beer, wine or a sweet treat before relaxing on the screened porch, or browse the Farmhouse Garden Center for plants, gifts and garden inspiration before heading home. The Conservancy has expanded well beyond its botanical garden roots, making it easy to spend an entire day exploring.

Summer Events

Summer brings a full calendar of events that give visitors even more reasons to return throughout the season.

Celebrate Independence Day at Red, White + Blooms, featuring family games, a neighborhood parade, live music, food trucks and festive activities throughout the gardens.

Enjoy free Saturday afternoon performances during Pickin' on the Porch, or spend an evening under the stars when Chairmen of the Board brings Motown, beach music and classic R&B to the Four Seasons Lawn.

Wine lovers can enjoy Vino in the Garden, pairing international wine tastings with live music in a beautiful garden setting, while runners can experience the unique Summer Nights 5K + 1 Miler, winding through wooded trails before enjoying exclusive after-hours access to The Gardens at Stowe.

Nature enthusiasts can also take advantage of seasonal programming including Birding Walks, Butterfly Walks, Garden Photography Walks, Forest Bathing experiences and guided docent tours throughout the summer.
