Household Hazardous Waste collection is provided for Gaston County residents only. These items are examples of household hazardous waste: Oil Based Paint Solvents Bug Sprays Weed Killer Lawn Chemicals Aerosols Fluorescent Bulbs Oil and Oil Filters Cleaners Batteries If these items are not disposed of properly, they may end up contaminating lakes, streams, or soil, which in turn may pose a threat to the environment or public health. Latex paint, water-based paint, can be dried out with kitty litter or sand. Once the paint is totally dry, the can may be disposed of in your household trash.
