Kim, Kathleen and Gene all shared a love for art early on in their lives, taking time away – sometimes years - for work and family life, then later returning to painting to express how they see the world. Here, on canvas, they weave together three divergent styles, the meticulous clarity of realism; the lush, light-filled brushwork of impressionism; and the emotional resonance of semi-abstraction. They remind us that a landscape is more than a place. It is a feeling, a record of time, and a living dialogue between the land and the observer. Spanning over 60 works of varying scales, this exhibition fills the galleries at Southern Arts Society with the beauty of our natural world. From intimate studies to sweeping vistas, these pieces capture the fleeting moments that define our surroundings. Meet the artists Kim, Kathleen and Gene at a public reception on Saturday, September 26, from 5-7 pm. The artists will give a gallery talk at 6 pm. This is a Free Event. Exhibit dates: September 2, through October 31, 2026. *** Special Events with Three Voices, Three Views Exhibit Kathleen McDermott will do two Free demonstrations, the first on landscapes Saturday, September 12, and one for sunsets on Saturday, Oct 17, both begin at 1 pm.
