Sandcastle Farm is a Century Farm located in Dallas, NC. Many of you may know Sandcastle Farm as an agritourism location with a The Barn at Sandcastle Farm wedding venue, but to Bill Rhyne, all he's ever known it as is "home".

Tucked away just outside of downtown Dallas, Sandcastle Farm has been part of Gaston County’s story for over a century. The farm’s roots stretch back to 1912, when Bill Rhyne’s grandfather first purchased the land and began raising sweet potatoes and pigs. Recognized as a Century Farm by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture—a designation given to family farms owned and operated for 100 years or more—Sandcastle Farm’s legacy runs deep. Today, that legacy continues with Bill—now the second-generation steward of the land—who focuses on growing soybeans, wheat, and ryegrass across more than 80 acres of beautiful farmland.

Paving a way forward

But Sandcastle Farm’s story goes beyond agriculture. When Bill purchased the farm from his grandfather in 1960, he added another chapter to its history with a sand-dredging operation along the South Fork River. That sand was sold to Ray Construction Company and used to pave roads, parking lots, and more throughout Gaston County—turning the farm into an unexpected cornerstone of local development and helping Bill pay off the farm faster.

A legacy reimagined into a destination

In 2017, the farm’s legacy expanded once again when Bill’s granddaughter, Sebron Dixon, envisioned a new future for the family land. Together, they transformed the property into a wedding and event venue, and in 2018, The Barn at Sandcastle Farm officially opened its doors. Since then, it has become a sought-after location for everything from weddings and birthday celebrations to political conferences, film productions, and even farmers markets. Looking to relax?
