Get your tickets to groove on back to 1977 for Gaston County Museum of Art & History’s Annual Murder Mystery Fundraiser, “Murder Mystery Disco,” happening on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the African American Museum, located at 300 S Firestone St, Gastonia, NC. This captivating event promises a night of elegance, intrigue, and immersive entertainment!

Experience a 1977 Disco with a Twist

This year’s event is set on the 1977 disco dance floor where an original, interactive murder mystery featuring actors from the Gastonia Little Theatre plays out, with help from the audience. Here’s a sneak peek at the plot:

“It’s summer, 1977. The evening is the hottest ticket in town. The unveiling of avant-garde artist Moss’s newest piece titled “Peel the Illusion” is happening. The club is hopping, the music is grooving, and the floor is thick with ego, glitter, and suspicion.”

Ali Pizza, the Museum’s executive director, invites you to join in on the fun: “We are really looking forward to this event. Who doesn’t want to break out their best Saturday Night Fever look for a night of great dancing and a little intrigue? Our annual murder mystery is a fun way for us to combine history, great food and drinks, awesome music, and the community, for a really memorable night!”

Dress 1970s Style

Put on your best bell‑bottoms, slide into platform shoes, and get ready to strut your stuff under the mirror ball—because this isn’t just any fundraiser… it’s a groovy whodunit set against the electric energy of the disco era. Retro clothing isn't required to attend.

Support Museum Restoration

Proceeds from this year’s event will be to support the Museum’s award-winning exhibits, family programs and educational experiences, and to preserve the Museum’s more than 83,000 art and history artifacts with the community.

Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased at the Museum or online. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this memorable event!
