Step Into Toyland: Kings Mountain Historical Museum’s Holiday Model Train Exhibit Returns!

The holidays are full of nostalgia, and few places capture that spirit quite like Kings Mountain Historical Museum in downtown Kings Mountain. Beginning November 28 through January 3, visitors are invited to step into Toyland — the museum’s much-loved Holiday Model Train Exhibit, a dazzling display of model trains, vintage toys, and games that bring the magic of Christmas to life.

Toyland - Games, Trains, & Toys

Open Tuesday through Saturday

10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Presented by the talented Metrolina Model Railroaders, this enchanting exhibit fills the museum with the sights and sounds of the season. Watch as model trains wind through miniature winter landscapes, past toy towns and snowy stations, all meticulously crafted with care and detail. Whether you’re a lifelong train enthusiast or simply looking to make new holiday memories, this exhibit will delight visitors of all ages. Admission is free!



A Holiday Tradition for the Whole Family

While you’re here for the trains, stay for the celebration! The museum is bringing even more holiday cheer with a lineup of special December events that highlight Kings Mountain’s community spirit and rich history.


Christmas on Piedmont Avenue

Saturday, December 6, 1:50 PM

Hosted by the Kings Mountain Historical Museum and the Nutty for Nutcracker Museum, this free event transforms downtown into a holiday village! Enjoy live demonstrations of hearth cooking, woodworking, and blacksmithing, along with toe-tapping music by the Carolina Thunder Mugs. Step back in time with Revolutionary War reenactments, browse food and craft vendors, and meet Mrs. Claus herself.

Saturday, December 13, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Bring the kids (and your camera!) for a free photo opportunity with Santa at the museum. It’s the perfect way to capture the joy of the season and make a lasting memory.
