Getting Here

Charlotte is the largest metropolis in North Carolina and is located outside of Gaston County, to the west just beyond the Catawba River. Charlotte visitors can reap the benefits of affordable accommodations by staying inside Gaston County with only a short drive via I-85 to gain access to Uptown. Belmont offer the closest hotels to Charlotte located at exits 26 and 27. We are also a short distance away from the Charlotte International Airport.

One of Gaston County's most popular attractions is the U.S. National Whitewater Center which is located on the Catawba River. Other must see attractions include Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens and and Crowders Mountain State Park.

SIGNATURE EVENTS

LIghts at USNWC

Lights is an illuminated walking trail that leads viewers through a series of immersive light installations featuring  honeycombs, webs, vines, crystals, and other natural features integrated into the forest. The experience offers a range of approachable, multi-sensory works created by artist Meredith Connelly that are site-specific to the Whitewater Center.

Ice Skating at USNWC

Skate on an ice trail or free skate on 17,000 sq. ft of ice. Located in the Upper Pond of the Whitewater Center, the skating environment features three distinct programming areas and an on-ice Airstream serving hot and cold beverages. Running through February 15th.

Flow Fest

August

Blending elements of wellness and mindfulness in a natural, outdoor setting, at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, Flow Fest features yoga for both first timers and seasoned yogis.

Tuck Fest

April

Tuck Fest is a multi-day festival that celebrates outdoor lifestyle through competitions, exhibitions, demos, and live music at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
